4 Signs That You Need to Replace Your Shade Sails
Shade sails are a great way to create warm, welcoming, and aesthetically pleasing outdoor spaces that you can use to relax. They help you make the most of outdoor spaces that would otherwise be left unused. Moreover, shade sails can make outdoor spaces usable and operational when the weather conditions are not very pleasant. So, whether it’s raining or the sun is shining bright, you can sit outdoors and enjoy the weather to the fullest!
The primary purpose of shade sails is protection from harmful UV rays of the sun and rainfall. However, if the shade sails are approaching the end of their lifespan, they will not serve the purpose for which they were installed in the first place. To make sure that the purpose continues to be served efficiently, you should keep your eyes open for the signs that indicate that it’s time to replace your shade sails.
1. Faded Shade Sails
If your shade sails have started to appear dull and faded and have lost their vibrancy, they have probably become old and inefficient. When the shade sails fade, it is a sign that they are now old and won’t be able to block the heat and UV rays of the sunlight or water during the rainy season as efficiently as they used to once. Therefore, take the fading of your shade sails as a sign that it’s time to replace your shade sails.
2. Tears, Rips, and Other Damages
Shade sails stay exposed during the times when the weather turns harsh. Conditions like strong winds or storms can damage the shade sails significantly, which is evident as tears and rips form in the shade sail fabric. If there are rips or tears in your shade sails or you see other signs of damage, you should consider replacing the sails. A damaged shade sail cannot provide the efficiency which is expected of it and will fail to withstand any further extreme weather conditions.
3. Grime, Mildew, and Dust
Shade sails are designed in a way that doesn’t keep the water standing on the surface. Incorrect installation can cause the water to pool up in one place, and hence, the chances of mildew growth increase dramatically. While you can’t prevent dust and grime from making your shade sails dirty, you can ensure that all the water is drained out. Cleaning your shade sails regularly can keep them clean, but a time will come when the shade sails will appear dirty no matter how much effort you put into cleaning them. This is yet another sign that you should replace your shade sails because dirty shade sails are a complete visual turn-off!
4. Unsafe Shade Sails
If the shade sails have become unsafe and the chances that they may fall are high, you should immediately replace them. This could be due to loosened or weakened attachments and attachment structures. In such cases, you should replace your shade sails right away!
Summary
The signs that indicate that it’s time to replace your shade sails include color fading, tears and rips, the growth of mildew, and weakened attachments.
